This stunning Roman disc brooch decorated with millefiori enamel was uncovered today from the Antonine period at Vindolanda (AD 160-200). What a great start to the week! #Vindolanda

Beautiful blue glass beads from a Bronze Age burial of a wealthy female about 3,100 years ago. Found in Kongehøj, Denmark in 1885. Research suggests the beads originated in Mesopotamia, evidence of long-distance trade networks. #Archaeology Image: National Museum of Denmark

The fact that the Prime Minister may resign over a Christmas party + quiz, rather than his policies that hit the most vulnerable in society, says everything you need to know about British politics.

Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science! Here’s a few photos of my time so far in the world of science. And my science besties Heather MillardWilson and Martha Jones. I wouldn’t have been able to do it all without them ❤️ #INTERNATIONALDAYOFWOMENINSCIENCE

My partner feeds the local birds from the kitchen window, and this morning I heard him saying to them: ‘Yes, I suppose everyone is hungry and upset after the storm.’

#MuseumCollectionChallenge the theme is #StDavidsDay. Here is a #throwback to c.1994/5 where our regimental mascot can be seen participating in the Leek Eating Ceremony! We're not convinced on the taste though...

Old Shuck - ‘a dog with flaming eyes’ who stalked Norfolk’s coast by night. A beast from the east I’ve been reading about, in the papers of early c20th folklorist & doctor Mark Taylor. They’re in Norfolk Record Office, where I’m researching various witchy & lunar histories!

Did you wear green for #StPatricksDay? This shimmering emerald dress was worn by famous actress Ellen Terry in her role as Lady Macbeth. It's embellished with green iridescent beetle-wing cases, designed to glisten under stage lights.

This is what I was trying to tell some students recently: smash the proverbial mould (but I was talking about looks rather than disabilities). Museum professionals are allowed facial piercings, tattoo sleeves, mohawks, multicoloured hair. Take up space. You deserve to exist.
