4/7 Los primeros reportes de la presencia de la tortuga laúd en el Pacífico mexicano se dieron en los años 70, identificando playas de gran importancia para esta especie. Debido al intenso saqueo de huevo y sacrificio de hembras, las poblaciones disminuyeron dramáticamente.

5/7 En la actualidad, el manejo que se ha dado a esta especie está dirigido principalmente a proteger las nidadas reubicándolas en corrales, para reclutar el mayor número de crías sanas a la población, así como llevar a cabo el monitoreo y estimación de la población anidadora.

6/7 En los años 90 se fortaleció la protección de esta especie en el Pacífico mexicano incluyendo Barra de la Cruz. Pese a ello las anidaciones disminuyeron. No obstante, desde hace dos décadas la tendencia se ha estabilizado en el rango de 150 anidaciones por año en esta playa.

7/7 La tortuga verde del Pacífico se reproduce desde México hasta más allá de Centroamérica. Sus principales sitios de anidación se encuentran en Michoacán. Oaxaca registra anidaciones esporádicas, pero en Barra de la Cruz se llegan a registrar hasta 35 anidaciones por año.

6/7 Throughout its history the CMT has formed teams of specialists, both in the clinical management of organisms in captive conditions, and in the management of wild turtles. A team with many years of experience in environmental education and nature tourism management.
