Went to the Central Library to read about local allotments history, ended up down a massive rabbit hole, enjoyed every last bit of it... still in love with Oxon public libraries ❤️📚 and so so grateful to all the heroes who take the time to write up niche local histories 🧩✍🏽

Today we mark 28 years since the #Srebrenica genocide in which 8372 Bosniak civilians were brutally murdered. They were killed after Serb forces attacked the UN "safe area" of Srebrenica in July 1995. #SrebrenicaGenocide ▪️

📢The proposed amendments to the Bill fall short, merely tinkering at the edges of cruelty. The core problem remains: the UK failing its moral and legal obligations. ✊We must prioritise compassion and rule of law, not harm and punishment. theguardian.com/uk-news/live/2…

Am I getting this right - the MPs just voted to reject the amendment which would ban LGBT people from being removed to countries with anti-LGBT laws or bans?? #migrationbill

FOH staff are possibly the most essential of all museum posts (literally can't open the museum without them) and a highly skilled and demanding job, so it's great to see this recognised in the level of pay. Here's hoping the rest of the sector will adopt this as a guideline!

My book has a cover! And it is beautiful. Look at all those lovely pillars just waiting to be knocked down. Huge thanks to the team Coronet Hodder & Stoughton (no longer active) for your enthusiasm and belief this book. That goes double for harriet poland, the best editor in the world.

15 years ago today, russia invaded Georgia. While much of the world was ignoring the consequences, the Baltic countries were carefully studying how to prepare for Russia’s new cycle of aggression against Europe. They concluded they should buy lots of Javelins to stop russian

Spot on. Sadly most funders, and consequently even some directors/managers (since they have to chase the funding), are much more interested in flashy/showy projects over what's essential & meaningful. This goes for cataloguing and other core aspects of running museums.

Madina Tlostanova on reclaiming decoloniality, the importance of double critique, and how decolonial thinking in the past years became essentialist and lacking nuance. A great start of the conference on decolonisation of memory
