One of the greatest pleasures of my career has been close working with doctors, at all levels including some teaching. Watching the medical profession tear itself apart recently is sad and worrying. This is hugely exaggerated on Twitter, but it is there in real world as well.

Last week I laid out how delaying disease so we spend less time in ill health in older age is possible, good for all and essential for a sustainable NHS.

Most people prioritise quality of life over quantity, and medical practice should reflect that.
