What a lovely bunch of dafties the Out of Doors audience is. After worrying that we wouldn’t get an audience at 0630 - over two hundred people turned up to see the show live from the BBC Spiegeltent. An absolute pleasure and very humbling. Thank you

It was bad enough when we had a government of out-of-touch multi-millionaires, scroungers and crooks. Now with millions of people facing fuel poverty and very real hardship it would appear we no longer have sort of government at all. This is beyond a disgrace. We deserve better

I feel really privileged to have been part of Thunder in the Glens this year. Over 2,000 participants. A lovely bunch of folk enjoying a trail through some spectacular parts of Scotland. An absolute blast. The crowds in Aviemore and Grantown on Spey speak for themselves.

Can we please stop with this crap about “off-setting” energy hikes? Don’t offset them - cap them. Cap them at the 40% increased rate the rest of Europe are paying. Not the 240% increase which us dopes are being asked to pay. This is flagrant profiteering. It should be illegal

I’ve known for months that Euan intended to retire from Out of Doors, but that didn’t make this morning any easier. The past umpteen years have been an absolute blast, the best of my professional career. I know I won’t be the only one to miss him. It’s been a privilege, lad

Some kind soul compiled the car-crash local radio interviews with the PM today and I listened to all of them. It is truly amazing what can be achieved by journalists who don’t get regularly invited to No 10 for dinner. I sincerely doubt you’ll get the chance but please keep it up

There will be decent Tory MP’s, good people who are sickened by this govt’s xenophobia, greed and incompetence. To them I say this, please, do something because we can’t. We’re trapped in a parliamentary system that means most of us are powerless. Please act now for all our sakes

Private Eye has claimed that the Chancellor has been receiving £20k per month from his old boss to work as a “political advisor”. If true it would be a clear breach of the ministerial code and isn’t listed in his members interests. Why is he not being questioned about this?

R4 has just played the entire 8 mins and 23 secs of Liz Truss’s press conference after the sacking today of Kwasi Kwarteng. I listened to it carefully and genuinely believe she may be unwell. This cannot be allowed to continue.

Oxford’s Philosophy, Politics and Economy degree began back in the 1920’s and was known as “Modern Greats” Given how many of our politicians have graduated from there, is there an argument that the PPE faculty should be closed immediately before they can do any more damage?

Yesterday it was put to the FM that her independence plans would involve “Tax rises, spending cuts, vast and expensive borrowing or a combination of all of those” Correct me by all means but surely that is precisely the situation we find ourselves in right now with Westminster?

Rocketing inflation, spiralling energy costs, people having to choose between heating or eating, unprecedented political chaos and this is the time when Labour leader Keir Starmer decides to crack a weak gag at PMQ’s. Is the man completely incapable of rage or righteous anger?

I’m not going to pretend I don’t swear, I do, sometimes a lot, but watching British politics on the news at the moment is not doing my language any good at all.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing, time after time, and expecting a different result. The selection process of the Conservative Party gave us Johnson and Truss. No more. Give people what they really want - a General Election. Let the people decide.

Just watching C4 news. Thousands of English school kids watching the game from Qatar today learned a valuable lesson - principles matter - unless of course they have consequences. In which case you drop them. FIFA is corrupt. Don’t watch the games
