Whatever the opposite of “hardcore” 10x rock star dev is, that’s what I want. cosycore, moving slowly, making things right, petting the dog, naps, staring out of the window pondering problems and drinking tea.

Atlassian used to share big company changes in "town halls" then follow with written info. Recently swapped - share company updates in Confluence 2-5 days ahead of the town hall. Staff asked much more informed Qs this way around. We will do it this way going forward.

This is a real time-lapse video of planets orbiting the star HR 8799, 133 light years away: four super-Jupiter worlds dancing around their sun. Amazing! Images collected at the Keck Observatory, processed by William Thompson (William Thompson). arxiv.org/abs/2210.14213 #astronomy #space

Here is the ⁦Private Eye Magazine⁩ advert I read out on ⁦The Rest Is Politics⁩ thereby breaking my general rule never to use or promote a Dyson product given the role he played in helping bring about the MAOSH of June 2016 (Major Act Of Self Harm 🇬🇧)

Life is different if you don’t depend on our NHS or state schools. If you don’t need to travel by train or bus to get to work. If you swish through airports in private lounges. If you’ve never worried about losing your job, or paying the rent. Their Britain isn’t broken. Ours is.

So, rather than screaming into the void regarding my thoughts on Platform Engineering, I thought I'd just scream those thoughts into a blog post instead - Don't Call It A Platform: samnewman.io/blog/2023/02/0…

The agile manifesto says: "We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it." NOT "We know the one true way to manage the software lifecycle. We don't actually write software, but we can certify you." #agile

1/ In answer to 'where are you going': the journey will effectively end (for you) when my power supply is so low that I can't operate any of my instruments. The EOM command will shut down communication with Earth. When? Within the next few years. I of course will continue...

Kangaroo courts don’t allow defendant to be advised by best KC in England, paid for in full by state, with full opportunity to argue their case, before tribunal advised by and acting upon advice of Court of Appeal judge. Kangaroo no. Sour grapes yes.
