We find differences in enthusiasm and candidate preference in SC based on in-migration and personal financial stress.

UT Tyler's poll of likely voters (Feb 18-26) shows Donald Trump has a 57% edge over fmr Gov. Nikki Haley (75%-17%). For the Senate: Rep. Allred is up 15% in Dem primary and gained 5% against Sen. Cruz in the general with registered voters since May. projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/20240229…

Always impressed with research on Southern Politics. Cadets saw new work at the 2024 Symposium Citadel SHSS. Then a walk back in time (Heersink & Jeff Jenkins) and study of the small towns (Hood & McKee) matched well with a key text. Can’t wait to see what y'all have next!

The heavy ads for #sc01 had varying effects by county compared to 2022. Early voting in Beaufort dropped (so did Mace's % of the early votes). Charleston Co's early vote (in district) DOUBLED (Mace's % slipped). Early vote in Berkeley was similar (Mace's % grew).
