Following the extremely sad news from RAF Coningsby this afternoon, we’d like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the pilot, the RAF BBMF team and the wider Royal Air Force family.

Truly sad news Royal Air Force confirms pilot Sqn Ldr Mark Long died in yesterday's RAF BBMF Spitfire accident. Mark was an expert aviator & due to take command of BBMF later this year. A tragic loss for his family, friends & the wider aviation community. RIP Schlongy. Blue skies.

A few years ago I had the privilege of working with Michael Mosley on a special film for the BBC going inside Dstl and he was always wonderful company. Hope he’s found soon
