This afternoon I was proud to welcome Secretary Pete Buttigieg to Indianapolis to highlight our city’s $25m U.S. Department of Transportation RAISE grant. This grant will convert eight segments of Indianapolis streets from one-way to two-way, as well as deliver street resurfacing and intersection improvements.

Two-way conversion projects help re-establish a sense of place in neighborhoods divided by busy thoroughfares. These conversions have been found to calm traffic and improve safety for all road users, boost connectivity, spur new development, and enhance quality of life.

Thanks also to the leadership of André Carson and Indianapolis City-County Council President Osili, we’re maximizing spending across all Indianapolis neighborhoods as part of our 5-year, $1.2B infrastructure plan.
