This summer I was so lucky to mentor this amazing REU student with @MarshDispatch! As a part of the NSF OCEANUS program, Lizmar assessed black mangrove seedling response to different abiotic factors in a grow room setting. Awesome job, Lizmar Luna! π±
Even through the Texas heat, Iβve really enjoyed spending so many days in the field in Galveston Bay! Thanks @MarshDispatch for teaching me so much and MarissaJPalmer for the great photo! All smiles when rolling up the transect for the day #WhereIsTheMangroveEmoji

Before the true experiment takes off, we sometimes have to work out the kinks in our methods! π€π MarissaJPalmer and I collected some Spartina and infauna to test out my mesocosm set up. With help from Katie St. Clair we hope to simulate continuous semi-diurnal tides here!ππΎ
I had a fantastic time at #BEMS! Thank you everyone who stopped by my poster π± also, thanks to @MarshDispatch for this great opportunity and Katie St. Clair for the experimental support
Amazing work by Vanessa Fernandez-Rodriguez πͺ±!!!

I graduated from Texas A&M Galveston ππ today with a M.S. in Marine Biology. Iβm ready to embark on my next journey! π
My first Coastal & Estuarine Research Federation (CERF) conferenceβ I presented some of my preliminary findings from the 1st chapter of my dissertation studying infauna communities within the salt marshes of Galveston Bay. Received great feedback and Iβm ready to get back to work! πΎπͺ±π #CERF2023 #MarshGirl
