This desire for collective effort on climate change, along with leaderhship, may explain why: More than 77% agreed that “Everyone should make lifestyle changes at about the same time to tackle climate change” 8% disagreed.

£22 billion is a huge amount of money. But it will only fund a handful of projects owned & developed by big business. By contrast, it could fund over *20,000* projects like my community-owned hydro scheme which as well as producing green energy has returned £ thousands locally.

At the heart of the UK govt's £22bn CCS plan is an huge new gas power plant being built by BP and Equinor. According to the project's own claims, even if the CCS tech works as planned, the plant will still emit 20 million tons of CO2. theguardian.com/environment/ar…

There seems to be NO good news at all. And yet #FossilFuel production continues to grow 😢 Trees & land absorbed almost no CO2 last year. The sudden collapse of carbon sinks was not factored into climate models – and could rapidly accelerate #GlobalHeating theguardian.com/environment/20…

It’s as if none of the work on sustainable economies ever happened. Starmer bangs on about “growth” but growth of what, for whom, at what cost? Not all growth is good & as scientists concluded last week “In a world of finite resources, unlimited growth is a perilous illusion”.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting says weight loss jabs can be "game changing”. What would really be game changing is a reduction in ultra processed foods, more fresh farm foods supplied to schools and hospitals & more local community sports facilities.

UK power station #Drax burnt wood from old forest areas, Drax emails show. They were fined £25m. But WE, the taxpayer gave Drax about £1 billion in subsidies last year, & they have just asked for more. NO. It doesn’t make sense #StopDraxSubsidies on.ft.com/3BQ6NIb
