I am currently attending CLT's "Artificial Intelligence Faculty Panel" which is taking place at the American University in Cairo. Panelists are Mario Hubert , Sherif Aly, Adham Talib, Michelle Henry, and Melanie Carter. #tito_ao

Dr. Sherif Aly is concerned about how long are people going to take to accept that AI is integrated in people’s lives and is a tool to generate programs. #tito_ao

Nour, an attendee and a faculty member, asked how faculty members can make use of AI to provide innovative classroom experiences and improve courses. #tito_ao

Hubert states that AI can be used by faculty members to enhance learning experience by decreasing instructor’s workload; however, if something like this is introduced, then institutions would outsource humans to technology. #tito_ao

One of the attendees asked the panelists whether or not people have the luxury of time now to understand AI putting into consideration how fast it is evolving. #tito_ao

Henry mentions that the rhetoric department has changed their learning approach into “inquiry based approach” as a “response for the needs of critical thinking rather than a response for evolution of AI.” #tito_ao

Hubert says that in theory, you can save time using AI but practically is that really true? #tito_ao

Dr. Aly says that when it comes to assessing people’s outcomes, it is significant to use active assessment rather than passive assessment to engage with students as well as to sit down and examine people in how they produced wonderful papers, programs, etc. #tito_ao

Hubert mentions that we have one of the most outbreaking technologies and it can take as long as 200 years to fully understand this technology. #tito_ao

Sherine Darwish, one of the attendees, says “My concern is that using Al at the age of STUDENTS, will be depriving their brains of the time/years they need biological to develop their cognitive abilities. #tito_ao

One of the newly joined faculty members at the AUC and is working in the field of AI says that understanding the relationship between the brain and artificial intelligence can help us and can push that domain forward. #tito_ao
