The first modern performance at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus was Sophocles' "Electra" in 1938, dir. Dimitris Rontiris, the first time ancient drama was presented there since antiquity. Performances resumed in 1954 and became an annual festival in 1955: the #EpidaurusFestival
