Does anyone know of a podcast that consistently does what Aubrey Gordon isn’t here Prince Hamlet do for dieting culture, but instead for current parenting trends? Holy moly, trying to cut through all the noise, shaming & conflicting "science-based" advice feels impossible as new parents.

I need a lot of Christians to do more sack cloth & ashes level repentance over how wrong they got issues of race, slavery, and civil rights—to the point society had to lead them past their blindspots—before they presume to lead society in areas of gender & sexuality.

Imagine living in the US in 2023, watching conservative state legislatures outlaw being trans and criminalize the sharing of books with 'woke ideology', and thinking, "the Overton window is skewing too far to the left and, by golly, I need to be brave and say something."

Today’s #uccsynod featured another great sermon about taking ministry outside the church. As often as we say that, this is my fourth Synod without much support for non-parish ministers. We have great ministers outside the church doing good work! Just, um, include us more.

As enjoyable as it was to add some levity to Synod discussing pizza topping opinions, I do hope we get some substantive discussion on the merits and challenges of consensus decision making to help us as a body decide how to prayerfully move beyond Roberts Rules. #UCCSynod

#UCCSynod We are considering the morality of clean syringe exchange programs in the shadows of the recent Scott County HIV outbreak due to dirty needle sharing and a state government that worsened it with its inaction. This is a harm reduction strategy and witness of our faith!

#UCCSynod The inclusion of disability in this resolution is critical for reasons beyond teaching the history of ableism. The ultimate goal of the attack on public education is privatization where students with disabilities have fewer protections and can be refused enrollment.

#UCCSynod Wouldn't a minority need time to come together & determine a wise response? Why do our standing rules require immediate filing of a minority report? Should we not be a people of discernment, contemplation & communion? Does this privileging of expediency serve us best?

People are begging for more sacred space for this work… so why do we cram all the committee debates into two out of the 5 days? #uccsynod

#UCCSynod Like budgets, schedules are moral documents. This sense of urgency to close discussion & move on with business is a direct result of the choices we make in scheduling and prioritizing process & expediency. May we find new ways to prioritize spirit and witness
