The UN says almost 500,000 Afghans have left Iran in just a month, as Iranian authorities continue a mass deportation drive of undocumented migrants. Iranian authorities have accused some Afghans of spying for Israel and say undocumented migrants present a security threat.

🚨 Over 264,000 undocumented Afghans returned from Iran in the last 9 days — more than 546,000 since June 1, pushing total returns past 1 million this year. The situation is dire: IOM and partners can assist fewer than 10% of those eligible and urgently need more resources.
