The Board of Directors of the @WGAwest and the Council of the @WGAeast, acting upon the authority granted to them by their memberships, have voted unanimously to call a strike, effective 12:01 AM, Tuesday, May 2.

Not to be hyperbolic, but this WGA strike is the canary in the coal mine. If we don’t stop this industry from insane automation and devaluing wages that’s a wrap. That’s dystopia.

Striking because if we don’t, in ten years Hollywood will just be Ted Sarandos with a laptop

SAG, I just want to warn you. If you’re very lovely as all of you are, sometimes when you speak to a writer, they may panic and scuttle sideways into a bush like a crab in search of shelter. This is ok, let them recover, they will have thought of a great response in 2-3 hours.

The studio’s A.I. proposal to SAG-AFTRA included scanning a background actor’s likeness for one day’s worth of pay and using their likeness forever in any form without any pay or consent.
