A moving report. But I believe the most appropriate response to it is not admiration, but anger. WHERE ARE THE STATE SUPPORTS that would allow this young woman to concentrate on her Leaving Cert studies and fulfil her own potential? Shame on us as a country for letting her down.

Delighted to hear that this talented young woman has finally secured the support that she needs and deserves, to fulfil her potential. And I look forward to the day when all disabled young people can expect that same level of support, without the long battle she had to fight.

Comhghairdeas to my daughter Grace, who has just achieved First Class Honours in her B.A. Degree in Modern Irish and English from University College Dublin. Never underestimate the ability of disabled people! Thanks to all who helped her along the way, especially UCD Access & Lifelong Learning, lecturers and PAs.

A long time coming, but welcome nonetheless. #Optional Protocol will not be a quick/easy fix but will provide a pathway for disabled people to complain of breaches of #UNCRPD rights. Ultimate goal is a society where those rights are vindicated so that complaints are unnecessary.
