This was a good one...NYU Journalism prof yvonnelatty joined The Brian Lehrer Show and A Daily Politics Podcast to talk about her mom, who has Alzheimer's...never easy but esp not during COVID. I screened so many heartbreaking calls, our listeners caring for loved ones are so loving & kind): wnyc.org/story/alzheime…

This was a really good segment, with Dr. Dara Kass, MD -- if you only have a few minutes, listen starting at 28:11 where she engages w/a retired nurse who is skeptical of the COVID vaccine, bc of how fast it came to be: wnyc.org/story/covid-19…

I had to WAKE MY KIDS* UP this morning at about 7:40am to get the big one ready for school. Feeling...suspicious, but hopeful that a new day is dawning. *they are 4.5/1.5 y/o.

My friend Alana Casanova-Burgess has a new podcast, La Brega: Stories of the Puerto Rican Experience & we had her on The Brian Lehrer Show and A Daily Politics Podcast today to help launch it! Listen to this ("one of the best talk radio segments I have ever heard" -- anonymous) & of course her pod: wnyc.org/story/wnycs-ne…

I went for a jog at 6:15am, got home at 7 and the whole family was still asleep; had some coffee, read/listened to the news in peace so obviously I am ready to rule the world today.

Thrilled to officially welcome Melissa Harris-Perry as the new permanent host and managing editor of The Takeaway 🎙. Her longtime focus on the intersection of race, gender, politics, and power is a perfect fit for the show, and this moment.

Big news today WNYC 🎙 as they announce Melissa Harris-Perry will be the new permanent host of The Takeaway 🎙. I'm stepping in as the interim EP & am truly honored to work with Melissa & the whole team here. Tune in M-F at 3pm on 93.9FM or anytime wherever you get your pods!

Very excited to share this The Takeaway 🎙 #DeepDive on #Passing. Dorian Warren and I took the full hour to engage with histories, meanings, and representations of racial and gender passing. Our guests are stellar. Please listen!

Really enjoyed this gem unearthed by @AndyLanset + the @WNYCarchives on bringing up baby circa 1948 ("real genuine kindness to the baby will help more than anything else") shorturl.at/sDGJL

Rest in peace Mick Moloney, friend, colleague, and mentor. There are no words sufficient to capture the totality of your impact, though in days ahead we’ll try. But for now, as we absorb your enormous, incalculable loss, just these: Thank you, Mick.  (Photo by Erin Baiano.)

The engineer on my train just had his last trip and his co-worker announced it and gave him a little tribute for his retirement (“a very fine engineer, one of the best”) and everyone clapped 🥹 🚊

7-year-old tells me some kids are masking up again “to avoid the tummy bug.” And casually throws in “Oh yeah 5 kids threw up on the blacktop today at recess.” 😳😳😳

My 3-year-old made up a new word and it’s perfect: “attackle” definition: exactly what you’d think (what happens during sibling horseplay…).
