Just to recap. In the national vote, Joe Biden won 81,283,098 votes (51.3%) and Donald J. Trump won 74,222,958 votes (46.8%). All 50 States & DC certified the results. On Dec. 14, the Electoral College affirmed Biden won 306 Electoral Votes to Trump’s 232. (270 needed to win)

Some people ask: Why would you impeach and convict a president who has only a few days left in office? The answer: Precedent. It must be made clear that no president, now or in the future, can lead an insurrection against the U.S. government.

We can fortify the defenses of the Capitol.  We can reinforce doors and put up fences. But we cannot guard our democracy against those who walk the halls of the Capitol, have taken an oath to uphold our Constitution, but refuse to do so.

I am so sick of people dumping on Biden and demanding things. The guy has been in office less than 2 months and is doing his best to clean up the mess that trump left us. So far, I think Biden has done a great job. Let the guy do his job!💙

I’m horrified that tragedy has again struck the Capitol, and a US Capitol Police officer has been killed and another injured. And I am heartbroken for Capitol Police, who have already endured so much. My thoughts are with the entire department, the officers, and their families.
