Great educators are not defined by the test scores they generate or the programs they implement. I think their greatness is found in the hundreds of little interactions they have with students every day. They are what will be remembered. They are what make a difference for kids.

A2: Kids gravitate to authenticity. They generally know which adults are genuine and which ones aren't. You can't just tell them you care about them; they need to feel it. And when they feel it, the door is open... #AledChat

We return to the schoolhouse on Monday. Some kids will be bursting to share their breaks with you. Some kids will be dying for a hug. Some kids will need to shake off the cobwebs. Allow for it all. Connection over curriculum on Monday. 💙

I think it’s good for you to laugh at work. It just is. It’s good for your colleagues, good for your students, and good for your health. I can’t cite you the research... but I bet laughter in the school building is positively correlated with strong culture. #JoyfulLeaders

Good leaders care about staff morale... because they care about their people. And usually, happy teachers are more effective teachers.

February is often times a hard month for educators. We gotta dig deep. We gotta lift each other up. And we gotta remember why we do what we do. The students need us… more than many of us realize. Gotta keep on keepin’ on!

It doesn’t really matter what they’re saying about us. In the end, the only thing we can control... is what we’re saying about them. And what we’re saying about them... should always be constructive. A legacy of building up, always trumps a legacy of tearing down.
