Just spoke with NRC colleagues in Rafah: the IDF assault is intensifying with continuous, massive explosions. There is no fuel, transportation, nor safe evacuation areas for most of the remaining 1,2 million civilians. Israel and Hamas must end these horrors with a ceasefire deal

Everything has been said already. No words are left that can do any justice to the people of #Gaza They are people, like you and I. They used to have dreams, they were part of a vibrant and diverse community…. Now, it’s only broken lives and broken futures.

In a compound for Palestinian evacuees in Doha, residents are not far from the war. Children try to reconnect with their childhood despite physical scars. Their mothers tell Jomana Karadsheh Scott they barely eat or sleep while the rest of their families are sheltering in tents in Gaza.

"We are here to help. Yes, we want to go home to our families. But without replacement, these people will not make it." American medic Monica Johnston speaks to Isa Soares from the European Hospital in Gaza, describing the immense guilt she feels at the prospect of leaving.

A message from Dr. Adam Hamawy, one of PAMA medical mission team members who are stranded in Gaza. "As a doctor, I cannot abandon the remaining members of my team, and as a former soldier, I cannot abandon my fellow Americans" Dr. Hamawy wrote.

None of this is normal. It is not normal to wake up each day and learn of new massacres. It is not normal to have to check-in with people to see if they are still alive, to see if they are all accounted for. Shame on all those who normalize or justify these atrocities.
