Maybe it doesn’t quite work RAW, but I thoroughly enjoy throwing large/huge monsters at my parties that will pick up the tank and throw him at the wizard or other ranged attacker. I totally share the frustration by the way.

My favorite trap was the most obvious. Pit trap with acid in a fake treasure room, covered by a Persian rug and a statue at the corner. Trap worked beautifully, they stepped on the rug, fell in, statue fell on top of them, hijinks ensued, almost TPK’d the party.
