Rare footage of extinct animals - a thread 🧵 1. Restored video of the last Tasmanian tiger, a species that became extinct in 1936.

On hot days like this one, it becomes painfully obvious how vital it is that we restore Britain's lost wetlands. Our landscapes have been drained and engineered to get rid of water as fast as possible. But water *is life*, and we're running short! Cool, lush wetlands are vital

Never forget that in Feb/March of 2020, the top-down push from governments was of calm, and the bottom-up push from the masses (including loads of folks who later became anti-lockdowners too late) was “DO SOMETHING!!!”

#BoycottFaroes She gave birth as she died, slaughtered by the Faroese, who show no mercy. Again and again, the senseless, barbaric mass slaughter of entire pods - ending unique cultures. We must not cease to report and share it. They must not be forgotten. (Video in thread)

‘The place is bleached, a dead zone’: how the UK’s most beloved landscapes became biodiversity deserts . Like my beloved New Forest - described by a botanist mate as a ‘blasted billiard table’ - there is no regeneration - there will be no new forest at all theguardian.com/environment/20…

If we want to stop the biodiversity loss crisis we need to talk about where sheep can access, deer numbers and driven grouse shooting theguardian.com/environment/20…

It is completely nuts that large swathes of our “National Parks” are essentially sheep deserts. I have noticed some improvement when in Yorkshire. Go to any other Country and hills and mountains look very different!

Scepticism is no longer a fringe reflex. It's a rational stance for anyone who's paying attention, says Clive Pinder. Nearly every pillar of public life has been exposed as contemptuous of the people it claims to serve. dailysceptic.org/2025/07/19/why…

There's never been such a strong chance of ending the obscenity of fishing in a way that not only strips the ocean of fish, it also rips out habitat the next generation of sea creatures needs to grow in - a death spiral for marine wildlife 👇🏾

#Badgers The most impressive badger grooming session you’re ever likely to see. The British government must stop killing these beautiful native animals. How many badgers killed in England in just 12 years? ≈248,000

Back of my Aunts garden in Withernsea. An area that has been left, teaming with birds and insects, more swallows than I’ve seen all year. Beyond, monoculture farmland, empty of life. More areas like this would make a world of difference. Rewilding Britain Yorkshire Wildlife Trust - follow us on Bluesky 🦋
