ARI / The Alabama Reading Initiative, ALSDE RELS (Mayte Cotton & Susan Penton) with Alabama State Department of Education provided a helpful presentation on digital tools during the American TESOL conference. These tools can assist EL and all students especially while doing remote learning. #AMTESOL

#tesol2022 #BoostingAchievement Let’s not start with ABC’s. Get a little language under their belt first! @MsSalvac Thank you for confirming what I have always done with older ELs!

#BoostingAchievement #tesol2022 These kids need hope. They need opportunities. @MsSalvac This echoes @Hector4English in last night’s keynote. Students need empowerment. They need the self esteem to know they CAN.

Since Pittsburgh is under a tornado watch, I am sharing my favorite tornado vocabulary meme that I use with my MLLs 😜 #TESOL2022 Be safe.

My wonderful students did this by themselves. They came and told me who was in their group and I booked the gym and sent the release list. ❤️ I love seeing them step up!

#MLLChat_BkClub For those if you who have done dissertations and other published work. How should I refer to our field?!?! My state gives credits for ESL and that is my cert. But is slowly moving to EL for students. I am referring to the class as ESL and students as EL. Thoughts?

#mllchat #ellchat Recently I have had to explain myself and I am questioning if my terminology is correct. I have always said that when a student reaches proficiency they “exited” from the EL program. And after monitoring we “release” them. Are these terms uncommon?
