Exciting times yesterday, 2 Whinchat LFL were the first for the autumn passage, only the 2nd Spotted Flycatcher Teal Scrape, then lots of warblers at Lavell's car park, including 3 Lesser Whitethroat

1 Woodcock over the tarmac path twice at dusk last night, first time at 16:50, then 16:58. Seen with Marek Walford it was East to West, which pretty much never happens. Now it's time to start checking for Bittern in the evenings...when it's not flooded

Well done to LWT #volunteers today, saving us from electric company habitat massacre later, by cutting back overgrown Willow, Ash, Oak & Poplar - creating dense scrub for more warblers, Bullfinch etc. A bit of dead hedging will stop people 'accidentally' walking through hedgerows

2023 most of the passing waders, have done just that, Curlew - 30 mins, Wood Sandpiper - 49 mins, Ringed Plover - straight over, Black-tailed Godwit - 37 & 7 mins. Ironically both Greenshank have stayed for hours, when it's them that normally fly straight through 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

The first Cattle Egret of 2023 and the 10th for our patch was seen at Lavell's, briefly at LFL, then back at Lavell's until at least 6pm 11th Aug.

The Pink-footed Goose is still lingering and happy at Lea Farm Lake, calling quite frequently too. A bit early to say, but maybe it will stick around till 2024, it would be a very nice bird to start a new year with

Male Merlin went through 09:00 over the landfill, 2m off the ground, then up and over Lavell's, then the DAC where it circled, splayed it's tail and off SSW. Excellent
