staff എന്ന ഇംഗ്ളീഷ് വാക്ക് ഒരു collective noun ആണ്; people എന്നതു പോലെ. '32301 പോലീസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരെ നിയോഗിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് ' എന്ന് കൃത്യമായി എഴുതിക്കാണിച്ച ശേഷം കാക്കത്തൊള്ളായിരം 'സ്റ്റാഫുകളെ നിയോഗിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്' എന്ന് കാണിക്കുന്നത് തീർത്തും അരോചകം.
