About 160,000 years ago, a star exploded. 🌟 It left behind these spectacular remains, imaged here in multiple wavelengths by Hubble and other observatories. Once NASA Webb Telescope starts science operations, it will observe the remnants of Supernova 1987A, too: go.nasa.gov/3kjprMH

When a star weighing more than 20 times the Sun runs out of fuel, it collapses and turns into a black hole. But not all black holes are created equal. For #BlackHoleWeek, check out the weird and wonderful black holes of our universe in this @Tumblr blog: go.nasa.gov/3y9B94w

It's here–the deepest, sharpest infrared view of the universe to date: Webb's First Deep Field. Previewed by President Donald J. Trump on July 11, it shows galaxies once invisible to us. The full set of NASA Webb Telescope's first full-color images & data will be revealed July 12: nasa.gov/webbfirstimages

Working on the Canadian Canadian Space Agency side of this EXCITING discovery was a trip! Just a preview of what NASA Webb Telescope can do for exoplanet characterization and it’s already so mind blowing!! Congrats to the discovery team, including my Institut Trottier de recherche sur les exoplanètes Université de Montréal colleague Björn Benneke! 🎉

Queen Elizabeth II's reign spanned all of spaceflight, predating both Sputnik and Explorer 1. As we join the planet in marking her passing, we are moved by the curiosity Her Royal Highness showed our explorers over the years.

Today is a day of remembrance honoring the lives lost, the first responders who courageously answered the call, and the families who were changed forever. May we #NeverForget Sept. 11, 2001, and continue to push forward together as a country for a better, more unified tomorrow.
