Web Components are used successfully by developers from all sorts of organization; "just work" in the vast majority of cases; they are simple to use and extend. Thus, they do not need (or support) devfluencer attempts to peddle them. Algorithms and conferences are thus hostile.

I spoke at one of the same software conferences as Cory, I can confirm this is true. Am I surprised that at conferences showcasing speakers that have vested interests in promoting not using web components that nobody uses them? No. No I am not.

The @GoogleStadia closure is hitting me hard. As both a Linux user and someone with slow internet it really made Destiny 2 a fantastic play experience. Bungie has historically been unfriendly to Linux users though, so Destiny 2 may be the best bet I ever lost.

My biggest annoyance getting Node.js packages to work with Deno is that people are writing some really terrible TypeScript if the debugger is :any _type_ of authority on that matter. (Hah! I crack me up.)

Really liked the write up on Node.js container images that Liran Tal did on Snyk. Would also recommend people look at Red Hat NodeJS certified container images for supported and maintained images too. catalog.redhat.com/software/conta…

Favorite #WARHW event this year was getting to literally stand with #RedHatBUILD for a couple of pictures today. The people of B.U.I.L.D. are some of the most caring, resilient, and amazing people not just at Red Hat, but anywhere. #lifeatredhat

Let me be frank. Nine years of wearing my Walmart hotdog costume have taught me a lot of things. So far no lessons on being independently wealthy or living to be 200 years old, and I am okay with that.

I don't know what tech people need to hear this today, but never pass up the chance to share the interesting things you are doing with coworkers and peers in the industry. It may give them access to new avenues for their career. Also, don't do so expecting thanks or recognition.

Twitter has been great for keeping up with some amazing people. I'm taking a break for a while or longer. May come back, start somewhere else, or just start publishing into the void more. Thanks for and to you all.

Kids have a swim meet in Greenville, NC next weekend. Anyone know any fun MrBeast -related activities to do or see while we're there?

With the news of AI-generated women speakers, coding unicorn girl, and Uncle Bob's latest bad take, I want to share this before I'm outed next. Rumors are true; I, too, am lying about my identity. I've been secretly posing as a white cisgender man to understand privilege and

The Durham Public Schools salary firestorm is taking the focus off of the fact that Durham PreK would rather make current Mangum 3-year-olds have to go to a different school next year when we have the space and staff to carry the program forward. Guessing not just a district 4B issue.
