everyone in this hotel is dressed all fancy and eating fish and salads for dinner and we’ve just stomped in straight from the plane and loaded our plates with pizza and pasta 😭

It is estimated that those with ADHD receive 20,000 corrective or negative messages by age 10. #Autism #ActuallyAutistic #Disability #Neurodivergent

Being AuDHD is like being disabled by 2 opposite forces. Autism makes it incredibly difficult to exist in the real world (for me at least). ADHD makes it hard to function on the daily stuff. And when in autistic burnout, they both can combine forces and get worse with AuDHD.

Disabled people are not a “burden.” The burden is bias. The burden is devaluation. The burden is dehumanization. The burden is exclusion. The burden is perceived inferiority. The burden is injustice. The burden is ableism.

The way that we treat mental health as some nebulous thing unconnected to circumstances needs to change. If the stress of living in poverty (or some other traumatic situationl) is making someone mentally ill, therapy ain't gonna help if they're still living in that situation.
