The funny thing is: THEY WERE! Jill & Claire were either the main or co-leads of the RE games in the first 5 years, and they were heavily used in marketing and crossovers. Then RE4 & RE5 happened... The late 90s/early 00s had MANY female leads, especially in horror games!

it is now looked down upon to want the characters you like from the games in the movies adapted in a faithful manner

It's crazy every adaptation of any game or book always get criticized of it's not being accurate enough and people agree that it's bad and it should be more acurate to the source material but for some reason Resident Evil sould not get a faithful adaptation !?
