From one trainer to many! After being supported with cutdown pads and fleet uterus, our trainer stepped down the training to her residents. The Follow-up Facility Data Collection Training for the MAMII project, supported by Emergency Obstetric and Quality of Care Unit and funded by Gates Foundation, is building capacity to strengthen data quality and evidence-based actions towards reducing maternal and newborn mortality in Nigeria. #MAMIIProject
Day 2 of the #MAMIIProject training focused on strengthening data quality for better maternal & newborn outcomes. Participants refreshed skills on REDCap, ethics, safeguarding & focus groups, supporting Nigeria’s efforts to reduce MMR & NMR with support from Gates Foundation .
Day 3 of the #MAMIIProject training, supported by the Gates Foundation, focused on building skills for accurate data collection to improve maternal & newborn health in Nigeria. Data collectors and supervisors reviewed the info leaflet & questionnaire. #MaternalHealth #MMR #NMR
The #MAMII project, supported by the Gates Foundation, successfully completed Round 2 data collection across 33 Nigerian states, covering 2,557 HCFs and 20 midwifery training institutions. This effort continues to reduce maternal and newborn mortality ratio in Nigeria.
With UNICEF UNICEF Africa support, Lesotho’s Ministry of Health trained 43 health professionals as Master Trainers in #EmONC, #ETAT, #AOSS & #QualityImprovement, led by Prof. Charles Ameh & Dr. Dr helen allott🇪🇺🇮🇪🇫🇷 (Emergency Obstetric and Quality of Care Unit ), boosting quality maternal and newborn care. #Health #AOSS
As we wrap up the year with reflection, the Emergency Obstetric and Quality of Care Unit unit under the International Public Health Department looks back on a year of strengthening impactful research capacity, securing key grants, and advancing maternal and newborn health across multiple countries. #Health
Prof. Charles Ameh (LSTM) joined 120+ programme managers and clinicians across Indonesia at a #POGI webinar on #MPDSR and the #WHO QoC framework, highlighting how poor quality of care drives preventable maternal deaths and how MPDSR can strengthen accountability and save lives.
With support from the Gates Foundation, @LSTMNews is partnering with the The University of Dodoma Dodoma to test AI-enabled obstetric ultrasound in 32 primary health care facilities across Dodoma. The SAFARI Project aims to help detect high-risk pregnancies earlier and strengthen care.
