Great discussion about functional skills at #AELPNC24 It’s tragic that too many young people are not able to progress their apprenticeships as they can’t pass a couple of units in functional maths and English quals. Glad this is the focus of AELP first ‘mini commission’

I’ve been advocating a skills tax credit for years. A more positive incentive for employers rather than punitive taxation (eg levies) . It’s being discussed at #AELPNC24 . Let’s also keep talking about how to incentivise change in Government mindset on the value of skills.
