Dear Hiring Managers, Do you really think that mastery of some algorithm is a better indicator of future workplace efficacy than being able to learn new things, to collaborate & communicate, to solve problems for your customers? Why is that?

Today I finally had the chance to code (I am an Engineering Manager) & I was struggling with autolayout. Mid level engineer paired with me & saw what I missed in less than 5 minutes. This is why I love pairing!

If you find a bug, the very first step is to write a test that fails because of the bug. Check it in. There, you no longer need a bug-tracking database.

Code-review-as-inspection is ineffective. Don't just inspect, pair or mob with the person who wrote the code and fix the problems. Right then. No delay. Ofc, if you had done that when the code was fist written, you wouldn't need the review. 😄 Quality cannot be inspected in.

I love this! For #3, I set a time box to keep me from spinning my wheels. Something I also do- reach out to the team by bringing options to explore & ask if anyone has insights on which option might bring me the best results.

I’ve been trying to get my partner (non- techie) to use a kanban board for our life projects together- moving, wedding, trips, etc. & he wasn’t on board with it. After several attempts, I am happy to announce that HE CREATED HIS OWN Trello by Atlassian board for our new house to do list!🙊

When teams believe "the goal" is to finish all the stories in a Sprint, they start focusing on work, not impact on customers. When we focus on work only, more work emerges and we have no way to manage/scope it out. Because the goal is, effectively "more work" #NoEstimates
