We look forward to welcoming #AdaniaShibli at the festival 22-25 August this year. Of Shibli’s wildly acclaimed novel, “Minor Detail”, Guardian Books wrote: “at varying points, terrifying and satirical; at every turn, dangerously and devastatingly good.”

Mircea Cărtărescu will be at Louisiana Literature 2024! Considered as the prodigy of Romanian literature of his generation, #MirceaCărtărescu‘s name has been brought up in relation to the Nobel Prize for years.

Anne Boyer will present her Pulitzer Prize-winning “The Undying” at this year’s festival. #AnneBoyer’s poetic and genre-bending memoir investigates the gendered politics of sickness and pain in the wake of her own diagnosis with highly aggressive breast cancer.

We are super excited to welcome trailblazing poet Danez Smith to our festival this August, world-premiering their 4th poetry book, “BLUFF”. Hailed as one of the most powerful voices in American poetry today, Smith merges raw personal energy with social and political criticism.

We are proud to present Mohsin Hamid at this year’s festival! Hamid writes with humor and great insight about people affected by globalization, migration and questions of race. Shortlisted for the Booker Prize twice, his novels have been translated into more than 40 languages.

Lauren Groff will join us at Louisiana Literature this august. Lauren Groff , who is a three-time National Book Award finalist and whose work has been translated into thirty-six languages, will present her latest novel “The Vaster Wilds” at the festival.

Winner of both the German and the Swiss Book Prize in 2022, Kim de l’Horizon’s name has been on everybody’s lips in the German-speaking literary world, & their novel #Blutbuch is underway in 17 languages. We are very excited to welcome Kim de l'Horizon to Louisiana this August!

One of Germany’s greatest contemporary authors, #DanielKehlmann will join us at Louisiana Literature to present his latest novel, “Lichtspiel”. Dealing with questions of art and power, barbarity and beauty, the novel discusses under which circumstances art can and should be made.

Max Porter will join us at Louisiana Literature this year. A star of new British fiction since his remarkable debut in 2015, The New Yorker calls @maxjohnporter “contemporary fiction’s bard of ugly beauty and exultant despair”. His work has been translated into 33 languages.

Lorrie Moore has been called “the nearest thing we have to Chekhov” and is celebrated worldwide for her wisecracking and often deeply moving short stories. We can’t wait to present #LorrieMoore and her latest novel “I Am Homeless If This Is Not My Home” at this year’s festival.

We are proud to present Austrian Peter Waterhouse at this year’s festival. His poetry often blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination, inviting readers to delve into the depths of their own minds. Waterhouse is considered one of Europe’s most prominent literary figures

Swedish author Joanna Rubin Dranger will join us at Louisiana Literature this August. She was awarded the 2023 Nordic Council Literature Prize for her genre-defying work “Remember Us to Life”, in which she recounts the traumatic history of her Jewish family during WWII.

Kjell Westö will join us at Louisiana this august. Winner of the 2014 Nordic Council Literature Prize, Finnish-Swedish Westö has often written about critical moments in Finland’s History, including the Finnish Civil War and the Winter War, often with links to the present day.

Colm Tóibín returns to Louisiana this August. Tóibín has been shortlisted for the Booker prize three times and fellow author Douglas Stuart calls his latest novel “Long Island”: “a masterful novel full of longing and regret.”

The youngest-ever recipient of the Norwegian Bookseller’s Prize, Norwegian Oliver Lovrenski will present his debut novel at this year’s festival. “Back in the Day” is based in part on his own life and is an intense and poetic description of intoxication, violence and criminality

Rachel Cusk will be introducing her upcoming novel, “Parade” at this year’s festival. The novel, out in June, is about art, womanhood and violence, and upends the conventions of storytelling while telling a story that sets loose a carousel of lives.

“Wildy original. Nobody writes like Faldbakken,” wrote a Norwegian critic about Matias Faldbakken’s latest novel, “Poor Thing”. Faldbakken will present the novel, a timeless story of loneliness, care and isolation, at this year’s festival

Anne Carson returns to Louisiana Literature! A classicist and translator from ancient Greek, her own works are often based on classics, which she playfully and skilfully reimagines in a blend of poetry and prose. #AnneCarson is often mentioned as a candidate for the Nobel Prize.
