It was a beautiful, joyous celebration of the StJohnsLaw Class of 2020 tonight #Commencement #BetterLateThanNever
Congratulations to StJohnsLaw alumnus and friend Ryan DeBiase ‘19 on getting married last night. Ryan was super active in our St. John's Public Interest Center Center.
Center Co-Director Mark Movsesian writes that the Court has stayed out of the vaccine mandate cases to allow lower courts to address the difficulties the cases present: thepublicdiscourse.com/2021/12/79498/…
We are thrilled to welcome Dr İbrahim Fatih DOĞAN to the StJohnsLaw Black Authors Book Club tonight. Dr. Kendi's book "Stamped from the Beginning" is a bracing, important read, and I can't wait to hear the dialogue that my colleagues Cheryl Wade and Sheldon Evans will have with him #BABC
What a wonderful way to honor the memory of StJohnsLaw alumna Judge Elaine ("Jackie") Stack '79--by winning the moot court competition that bears her name! Congrats to David and Stephanie, and thanks to Nassau County Bar!
The StJohnsLaw Rome 2022 Travel Study Course gathered tonight for a final class. The food wasn’t quite as memorable as we had in Rome, but the company was still great. Thank you to all the students for a wonderful learning experience
The StJohnsLaw St. John’s Moot Court Honor Society Reardon Moot Court Competition continues with Gabriella Blum and Alexa Schimp arguing for Respondent.
Yesterday, we hosted a Virtual Fireside Chat with James Whelan, President of REBNY, moderated by Alfred C. Cerullo, III, for our StJohnsLaw students. What an informative and fun event! Thanks Jim and Fred for sharing your knowledge and time with our students.
The scheduled presenter at today's StJohnsLaw faculty workshop was Michael Olivas. Right now, we should be listening to him present "Backstories of Academic Freedom." Instead, with the rest of the legal academy, we're mourning his death. A true loss, but a lasting legacy. RIP
Just want to crow that we predicted the outcome in Shurtleff in our Legal Spirits podcast in January: no government speech; summary dismissal of Boston's Establishment Clause argument; a few concurrences. Marc O. DeGirolami Mattone Center for Law & Religion lawandreligionforum.org/2022/01/31/leg…
We are delighted to welcome Benjamin D. Clack '15 to the Emerging Leaders Committee of our Advisory Board. Our StJohnsLaw students and real estate law programs are sure to benefit from his involvement in the months and years to come. Welcome aboard Ben!
Congrats to Robin Boyle of StJohnsLaw on a very productive year. She gave 5 presentations on “Human Trafficking & Coercion,” including the keynote for an academic conference at Shanxi U. (China). She has also been doing pro bono work . . . 1/2 #LegalWritingGoodNews
At last month's New York State Bar Association RPL Section Annual Meeting, StJohnsLaw editors of the NY RPL Journal were honored for their contributions to NYSBA and the discussion of real estate law topics by the NY bar. The latest issue of the NYRPLJ is live online. Thanks to the authors, as well as EIC Tyler Mittleman and all of the StJohnsLaw E-Board and staff members who made another fantastic issue possible! New York State Bar Association nysba.org/n-y-real-prope…
I’ve been off Twitter since last summer, but dropping in now to mark the end of another wonderful academic year StJohnsLaw. Had so much fun celebrating with 1Ls at the annual Simons vs. DeGirolami soccer game (congrats to Marc O. DeGirolami on the win)
