.Green Hills AEA consultant Val Giegerich shared best practices on the evidence-based student engagement model, Check and Connect. This model increases a student’s positive adult relationships and helps create safe and supportive learning environments. #iowabest2022

Watching Mrs Applegate Harlan Community School District in 3rd grade today. Students working on area computation. This productive struggle to figure square footage led to leaning on prior knowledge and working with a partner. Then watched student work on personal narratives. #thestruggleisreal

In my 39 years in education one of the things we have gotten away from is allowing students at all levels to productively struggle. Students need to know how to lean on prior knowledge, problem solve, and group work. Real world skills that employers tell us students lack.

Witnessed 3rd graders working on area computations and personal narrative editing. LOVED Stephanie Ahrenholtz Harlan Community School District using DESMOS. Students actually teaching class. Real world application of technology. Thanks for being brave and trying something new. #rockstarteacher

Short vowel summative assessment time in Mrs. Tarney's room. Loved how she told students this was more for her to make sure she was doing her job. Followed by reading buddies, students were engaged and reading to each other. Never hurts to earn an M&M reward. #readingisthekey

This past weekend I was given this award at the Iowa Council of Teachers of Mathematics math conference. We are still waiting on the federal government to select one of three of us for the award. It was nice to be honored at the state level.

Was a Kindergarten scientist today with Mrs. Hoffman Harlan Community School District. Our mission was which apple we liked best 🍎, 🍏 or yellow apples. I learned today that scientist always write their name 1st. Also "Hocus pocus" means "focus" 8 scientists chose yellow, 6 chose red, and 4 green.

We were blessed today Harlan Community School District to have the WISE group from Iowa State University doing a "Making DNA" project with our 4th graders. WISE stands for women in science and engineering. A very great hands on experience for our students.

The Incredible Lightness of Barack Obama Joe Biden is caught in a quadfecta of corruption, cognitive decline, a failed agenda, and eroding polls. Amid this apparent vacuum, an opportunistic Barack Obama — who used to be more discreet in managing his third term—is reentering the
