Duncan Campbell’s death is a cruel loss to journalism. Wise, kind, universally trusted, universally liked. Writing wonderful pieces to the end theguardian.com/media/2025/may…

This is important. If Amazon.co.uk can track and store millions of objects, so should the criminal justice system… Thousands of criminal cases collapsing due to missing or lost police evidence bbc.com/news/articles/…

The fact we can't tell if teacher salaries are meeting minimum wage laws shows we have deep problems with the structure of teacher pay and conditions. The 1265hr deal was a response in the mid 90s to changing employment laws. It needs an overhaul. schoolsweek.co.uk/schools-risk-i…

This is appalling. Punishing young carers!!! Come on ⁦The Labour Party⁩ - sort this out. Divert a bit of the billions on weapons cash to avoid making carers’ lives worse. Young carer who unwittingly breached allowance rules forced to repay £2,000 theguardian.com/society/2025/j…

Historically, abuse in children’s homes has involved white, middle-class men. The Catholic Church has faced serious allegations involving white religious leaders. In other cases, such as the grooming gang scandals, the majority of perpetrators have been Pakistani Muslim men.

A woman with schizophrenia has been convicted of not paying her TV Licence during mental health difficulties sparked by her mum's illness Here's a good example of why I think the BBC is wrong to oppose a key reform to the Single Justice Procedure

Despite all the concerns expressed by organisations & charities representing disabled people & Labour MPs & trade unions the government has gone ahead & published its Bill to cut disability benefits. There seems to be nobody in government that has a clue how disastrous this is.

On the day police arrest people for protesting, a timely feature of David Hoffman’s photography of protests is featured in the Guardian’s Saturday magazine, with intro by the late lovely Duncan Campbell. Final paragraph so apt:

Great piece illustrating David Hoffman’s images of protest in the uk over the past few decades. Moved to see the late Duncan Campbell’s writing in the Guardian for one last time ( he wrote the foreword to Hoffman’s book) theguardian.com/world/2025/jul…

There's a disturbing trend right now of pretending that some disabilities don't exist; that people with mental health struggles are lazy, making it up, or exaggerating It's bad enough for important people to think that, it's worse when prejudice is embedded in whole institutions
