Let the terrible takes begin, get them all out before tonight please. Starting with if pep trust Grealish he’d be a great 10.

City’s response to Wirtz’s decision will be v interesting to see. Do they pursue a “Plan B” alternative (e.g. Xavi Simons). Or do they change strategy completely + go after a top player in a different position (e.g. Rodrygo or Wharton/Reijnders) and rely on current #10 options.

Would be nice to see certain players get a start today. I can’t see Guardiola rotating too heavily. But is Akanji/Foden/Haaland from the off realistic? Could see O’Reilly dropping out. Then one of the Uncs plus Doku maybe?

I’m a fan of this XI. Thought O’Reilly would drop out (with Akanji in at CB). Foden starts. Plus McAtee (!). And Haaland is back. Otherwise, there’s x3 Uncs as expected.

Desperately missing a winger / risk-taker in the final third here. But Foden/McAtee was an active choice from Pep. Bernardo pulling RW too…

Just heard Ruben Dias’ interview live on BBC 5 Live Sport. Pathetic. Blaming Southampton for their lack of ambition, time-wasting, etc. Complained about the “dry, sandy” pitch. Lamentable. Take some responsibility.

Although he wouldn't be replacing like for like, there is one aspect of Gibbs-White game that would be incredibly valuable to Manchester City.

Great move for Perrone. He’s been excellent at Como. Established himself as a deep-lying CM. Playing under Fabregas: what a guy to learn from!
