it’s a good thing, given the choices I’ve made, that all I’ve ever really wanted do on any given Monday night is drink beer, eat fries, and read about pain on the early modern stage 😍

about this I’ll just say that there are some younger folks in my early modern lit seminar who did not stay up past 11 eagerly watching every offering of Comedy Central c. 2002 (due to being infants) and, well, they were a bit confused when they googled “Milton memes”

this CFP got me so excited when it came out 🤩 (can we start saying CFPs “drop,” like albums?) & it was so much fun to present this morning—even though I was as “fat and out of breath” as a fencing Hamlet after leaving laptop in hotel room

"'Ha ha' and 'he he' signify laughter in Latin and in English, because they are cried out when laughing." Wonderful evidence here in Ælfric's Grammar that 'ha ha' has been the sound and spelling of laughter in English since at least the 11th century and the Old English period.
