Yesterday, THE CITY reported that the family of Will Rozario — who was fatally shot by cops in the midst of a mental health crisis — was calling for the release of the police body-cam footage. NY AG James just posted two videos. Local news matters.

Has City Hall never witnessed a legislative oversight hearing in the Council, the state Legislature, Congress or student government? The speaker is obviously not going to open this investigation...

Police shot and killed 19-year-old Win Rozario. He was standing in the kitchen with his little brother and their mom.

NEW: More than three dozen local elected officials are calling on Mayor Adams to discipline NYPD Chief John Chell over “illegal” and “dangerous” social media attacks the police honcho has leveled against lawmakers, journalists and others in recent months. nydailynews.com/2024/05/03/nyc…

TL:DR

One set of protesters = the people outside the locked campus. These were most likely random people that attended a rally to support the encampment.

The second set of protesters = the people inside the campus’s encampment. These were most likely CCNY students and faculty.

From one of the absolute best in this City who was also blocked from doing her job on Tuesday night after the NYPD kept her inside a building despite identifying herself as a member of the press:

Mayor's office and NYPD have released police data breaking down those arrested at Columbia and City College. Only 30% at Columbia were unaffiliated, 60% at City College where the protest was open to community.

Broken down by school the numbers skew a bit differently - 80 people arrested at Columbia did “have an affiliation” with the university, while only 32 did not, according to the official.

The relevant statistic is how many of those arrested inside Hamilton Hall aren’t Columbia-affiliated. That figure still hasn’t been revealed.

New: Of the 282 arrested at Columbia University and City College of NY, 134 were not “affiliated” with either school.

The remaining 148 did have an affiliation, according to a NYPD official who shared the breakdown with CNN.

So the next question is how many were faculty and alum. CCNY had called for public assistance, so there will be people not affiliated with CCNY.

NEW: On NPR, Mayor Eric Adams says 'over 40%' of protestors arrested and those who participated in Columbia and CCNY protests are non-students, which is the first time anyone from the admin or NYPD has released any percentage or number. Still awaiting more details.
