I am delighted how many slow worms are living under the dustbin lid in our tiny city centre garden! I have heard that the name for a group of slow worms is a gloss… so look at our glossy huddle! So pleased that there are enough invertebrates to keep them fed and thriving.

Day one done… Now the wait… The constant checking necks of cattle… 4 days of stress Knowing that as farmers we are just expected to get on with it, get over it, work with it. Do it again in 6 months. Then again and again. But hey, we are just farmers.

Three generations laying hedges today, doing the same thing that my family has done here at Strickley for 150 years. But, we feel vulnerable about the future right now. We don’t own land as an asset for tax purposes or for a wealth fund, we own land to care for it & to farm it.

The cabbage harvest is upon us in Western New York. Workers spend their day bent over to cut out these cabbage heads from the ground. They share that the work puts intense strain on their backs and knees. #WeFeedYou

Today is a very special day for my family, it is 150 years to the day that my Great Great Grandparents, Henry & Abigail, moved into Strickley. 150 years and 6 generations later, we are incredibly proud to be still farming here. Always farming for tomorrow
