HQIM & pairing teachers w/ literacy coaches works! We’ve done a great job in RI w/ R2R training & HQIM but now we need literacy coaches in our schools to help w/ implementation. Instead many districts are cutting literacy coaches due to budgets. Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Middletown Public Schools

This is a huge problem - older students who didn’t receive proper K-1 reading instruction and devastating for older students with reading disabilities. These students are put in low level classes and pushed through middle and HS, and graduate without receiving proper instruction
