I’ve got a talk up at #ABS2020 - check out the Ecological Effects 2 session (Thursday) to learn about our preliminary findings on the effects of drone-based behavioral observation on savannah ungulates. I’ll be at the Q&A too - Thurs 11:00 EST/17:00 CET!

Our paper testing the Marginal Value Theorem in captive chimpanzees is out in the AmJournalPrimatology. Chimps adhere to some, but not all, predictions. Results support recent findings in wild orangutans by @AndreaAmongApes onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.100…

Awesome opportunity for a postdoc on army ant self-assemblages with @sjmgarnier. As a previous postdoc in the Swarm Lab, I highly recommend!

Our paper is out today in Primates rdcu.be/csBnR. We found that playbacks of chimpanzee food-associated vocalizations attracted listeners in a captive setting. Participants were attracted even though they were already aware of the food and had other foraging options.

Short post on my recent paper examining the effect food-associated call playbacks have on the foraging decisions of captive chimpanzees. Links to PDF, supplemental materials and acoustic stimuli included. obryan.blogs.rice.edu/2021/11/16/pla…

New paper out in Human Factors: The Journal of the HFES journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/00…. We leveraged Zoom to extract objective patterns of communication in virtual teams (R code: github.com/codingPrimates…). Speaking time, degree centrality & dyadic turn-taking are positively related to team member effectiveness

Our pre-print arxiv.org/abs/2301.04030 on the development of an individual-based, stochastic model of conversational turn-taking. Our first step towards better understanding, and eventually predicting, the emergence of conversation dynamics.
