Meeting with a lawyer can feel intimidating. Here are some of the questions we typically discuss in a typical 1 hour advice meeting with clients seeking guidance about how to help a loved one with an untreated mental illness. #mentalhealthlaw #mentalillness #familycaregivers

This is an excellent article. It demonstrates the subtle manipulation that is all too common by adult children, at the expense of their siblings (and parents), and how feelings of entitlement and lack of trust fuels isolation, greed and destruction within families. #elderlaw

I've had similar issues with ChatGPT over the past year. Numerous times it wouldn't "make me a Hanukkah sweater" or "draw a synagogue" but would follow these requests when I substituted any other religion. It could make any kind of religious holiday sweater, except a Jewish one.

Thinking of all the healthcare and allied professionals working this Christmas Eve instead of spending it with their loved ones (& those who will miss half of Christmas day sleeping after a night shift!). Thank you for your dedication & sacrifice. You are appreciated!🎄

AI has become such a natural part of my workflow that it's hard to believe I've had access for such a small part of my career. #AI #ChatGPT

Underrated ability of ChatGPT: helping you share difficult information. Whether it is owning up to a mistake or telling someone something they don't want to hear, ChatGPT can work with you to refine your choice of language. #chatgpt

One of the hardest parts of #guardianshiplaw is not being able to help people because there’s not enough evidence. They witness the incapacity & suffering but have no records. Their loved one won’t see a doctor (or consent to share records). They have nothing to show the judge.

Every egg donor should be treated as a person (and patient) - not a means to an end. While it is rare, I have heard stories of conduct by fertility clinics, agencies and lawyers that are concerning. #fertilitylaw

Our latest blog is a summary of a recent tax court case involving surrogacy that has implications for every surrogacy arrangement: " Tax Court Upholds Confidentiality in Surrogacy Agreements" You can read it at familyhealthlaw.ca/blog/tax-court…

Many of these comments show a deep misunderstanding of #surrogacy. Yes, there are ethical & legal concerns in some cases. But surrogacy can also be voluntary—where a woman chooses to carry a child because she loves being pregnant & finds meaning helping others build their family.

Still absolutely shocked about the psychiatric patient who was (allegedly) able to access #MAiD while on a leave from hospital. I have many questions. familyhealthlaw.ca/blog/the-legal…

I’d love to see a health reporter dig into how much taxpayers spend on HSARB versus the success rate for applicants. If most cases fail, wouldn’t that money be better spent on actual care rather than a tribunal where success seems nearly impossible? #HealthPolicy #HealthNews
