This is a page for a public art piece to be installed on S Finley Street in Athens,GA! It is an element of a Walk of Recognition to acknowledge the history/legacy of Linnentown and its descendants as envisioned by the community in collab with the Athens Justice and Memory Project

The Athens’ community, particularly those affected by urban renewal and displacement, are invited to help design & create the mosaic in upcoming public workshops. Follow us to receive notification of the workshop dates & to learn more about the project!

Linnentown first descendent Hattie Thomas Whitehead will be at the Athens-Clarke County Library tomorrow (October 10th) at 2pm to discuss her memoir, Giving Voice to Linnentown. Head on over to Avid Bookshop to get your copy if you haven’t already!

Monday Oct 3, noon to 6pm, Memorial Plaza at UGA - Join us for the creation of a temporary Linnentown Mosaic. The permanent installation of the mosaic is being blocked by USG. Flyer and petition will be distributed. SEE YOU THERE!
