New preprint. Thorben Schramm made an E. coli CRISPR library🧫 and screened for temperature sensitive mutants. Some of them are great growth switches. biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…

New preprint. We found that ATP limitation makes E. coli resistant to some antibiotics because it induces expression of a transporter (PunC). This happens also in E. coli from the clinic. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

New paper from our group. We made 15,120 E. coli mutants and screened them for temperature-sensitivity. The thermo-switches are great tools to control bacterial metabolism and growth. 👇 doi.org/10.15252/msb.2…

Turning up the heat on essential genes🌡️ Thanks Stirling Lab for this very nice comment about our thermo-switches. AcCoA switches would indeed be a very nice thing. embopress.org/doi/full/10.15…

Controlling bacteria, controlling metabolism, and why this is relevant for antibiotics. The #exzellenterklaert podcast featured our research, together with my colleague @NadineZiemert. Thanks to Larissa and team and to Controlling Microbes to Fight Infections . In German: exzellent-erklaert.podigee.io/42-bakterien-k…

New preprint showing the importance of the highly conserved bacterial SPFH complex for aerobic respiration. Interesting similarity to mitochondrial prohibitins. Great work by Isa Pérez López in collaboration with Link Lab and facilities of Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Our CRISPR screen in E. coli shows that metabolic mutations influence antibiotic action. Pathway-specific bottlenecks cause resistance. Slow growth leads to tolerance. Read more 👉 doi.org/10.1038/s44320…
