“Working people can’t save money so why should disabled people be able to?” Many disabled people work. Also… “Working people” who work full-time earn more than out-of-work disabled folk. And everyone should have enough to try and save. Bring everyone up, don’t punch down.

Adam Fare 🖤🤍💜 Things we've saved for recently: walk-in shower downstairs toilet Things we haven't saved for recently: holiday to Disneyland kids university costs (new soundsystem was vetoed anyway...)

Note No.10 is starting its new narrative: “We can’t stop the two child limit ‘cos they made us u-turn on disability benefits.” Child poverty v disability poverty is not a contest. Labour is responsible for its choices and solutions - not disabled people. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

Can we please stop with all the “anyone on PIP can get a free car” nonsense. 1 You have to be receiving the highest rate of mobility to be eligible. 2 The upfront costs of a Motability car can run into the thousands depending on the person’s needs and whether or not adaptations

Huge issue with PIP… If you can (in theory) cook a meal, but can’t keep your kitchen clean to make a safe meal… 0 points. If you can (in theory) shower by yourself, but can’t keep your shower clean to actually clean yourself…0 points. Cleaning should be part of assessments.

Mik Scarlet (@mikscarlet) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Sarah Vine A total fabrication. No one is awarded getting around/mobility component of PIP, only awarded to people who have major difficulties with walking or way finding, for constipation or food intolerances. Without this part of PIP you cannot lease a Motability vehicle.

Seems like a lot of people don't understand what "ambulant wheelchair user" means.... Someone may need a wheelchair, but also be able to stand up, walk around a bit, etc... Don't judge what you don't know, especially when you don't know the details (which you never do).

Want my "Taxpayer funded luxuries" as a disabled person who can't work? Cool, I'll swap with you. But you have to take on my lifelong, progressive health conditions as well. It would be a much better trade for me, I promise you.

Disability benefits are a lifeline for disabled people who face extra costs. Yet the government plans to slash them ✂️ As Adam Pearson said at the Scope Awards in May, they aren't a 'perk'. They're vital.

Honestly, what chance do we have when we have politicians saying outright lies like this one? The way that hate against disabled has been normalised very quickly is disgusting and dangerous. Politicians and journalists are killing disabled people, directly and indirectly

“When the political and media class wish to leave disabled people hungry and dirty, the disabled community must explain why we should be allowed to eat and be clean.” Today’s col. reflects on a tough month and what it all means for disability in the U.K. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

You could try to "incentivise" me with £1 million... I'd still be unable to work. It's not about money, it's about the reality of our health.

❗ Say it louder for the people in the back: you can't budget when you have no money. We speak to parents who are skipping meals to feed the kids and people who are terrified about rising bills. No amount of budgeting will make incomes stretch to cover the cost of essentials.

It is simply misinformation to claim that people can get disability benefits just by “self identifying as disabled” You need evidence, prolonged and often from multiple specialties, and to go through comprehensive assessments. You can’t just say “I’m disabled” and get everything

Atlanta 🦹🏻‍♀️ #DisabilityRebellion (@areyoflight) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Can I ask what The Labour Party are going to do about the hate speech and abuse of disabled people - that they’ve instigated - in order to manufacture consent for the cutting of disability benefits? You started it, you fix it.

Adam Fare 🖤🤍💜 (@adamfare1996) 's Twitter Profile Photo

If I can't do something due to my disabilities... I can't do it. It's not "mindset". It's reality and real disability. (And "can't do it" includes if it would cause too much harm to be worth doing)

I’m a bit late to the party, but I have no doubt the Motability furore ain’t going anywhere…🫣 So here’s a handy FAQ🧵debunking the myths and headlines You've probably seen the outrage: "Free cars!" "Scroungers!" "Gaming the system!" But what’s actually true? 1/30
