Finally settled in London.

This is huge. The creator of the YOLO algorithms, which (along with SSD) set much of the path of modern object detection, has stopped doing any computer vision research due to ethical concerns. I've never seen anything quite like this before.

We show that batch normalisation biases deep residual networks towards shallow paths with well-behaved gradients. This dramatically increases the largest trainable depth. We can recover this benefit with a simple change to the initialisation scheme: arxiv.org/abs/2002.10444
