If you can’t find talent Grow talent. Find the diamond In the rough And polish them. Find the open mind And fill it. Find someone hungry That’s willing to work For what will satiate them. No assholes. No big egos. No degree needed. Just good people Willing to work hard. - ml

How is it that some dude from 1,950 years ago knows exactly what we’re working through right now and has some great advice for us? Don’t believe me, read Ryan Holiday's stoic trilogy, The Obstacle Is The Way, Ego Is The Enemy, Stillness Is The Key. - ml

Whether we’re trying to heal our body, our brain, our team or our marriage, we have a choice, a new pill or a new path. A new pill is easy, but a short-term solution. A new path is hard, but a long-term solution. Not saying one is wrong or right, just a reminder it’s a choice.

There’s only one way to build to last, brick by brick, stone by stone, from the bottom up. No shortcuts. No cheap alternatives, be it labor or materials. It’s hard work, There are far easier & faster ways to make money. But no other way to make a lasting mark - ml

Sometimes we’re going nowhere Sometimes we’re going somewhere unintended Sometimes faster than we thought Sometimes slower than we thought Sometimes we’re right where we thought we were… but rarely. The only way to know is honest reflection & taking a hard look at the data. - ml

Sorry, I had to perpetuate the fake glamor of working remotely. My life on the road is usually cramped quarters hiding from noise or stale hotel rooms. But earlier this month we stayed at The Tillerman in Vermont & it really is this idyllic. (Instagram.com/the_tillerman_…) - ml

Few things come without warning, We just need to be tuned into The signals. If we’re too busy, too focused on the future or the past, we miss the signals telling us where we are in the flow of things —what’s changing, what’s coming. - ml

It’s probably not planned malice. It’s probably people doing their best or what they think is right from their POV. Jumping on the other side doesn’t solve anything. A better solution comes from understanding their POV & assessing the data and decisions. - ml

I was mesmerized by this artwork from Zhuang Hong Yi at Galerie LeRoyer in Montreal’s Old Town. Each paper seemed to be an individual, each shade of color an aspect of ourselves expressed, each step I took our point of view evolving. - ml

I knew to play the long game, I just didn’t realize how long the game actually was. Whether it’s our career, our business, our marriage, raising kids, investing, these are long, long, long, long games that allow us to leverage time… if we choose to. - ml

As organizations grow, we have the need to break off into smaller groups. If we view those smaller groups as departments, we slice up the whole. If we view those smaller groups as functions, we make them integral pieces of the larger process. - ml

We’ll work through this. But then what? Then there will be something else to work through. That’s it? That’s it. So we should probably just enjoy the process. - ml

It sucks to get out of bed when we’re at home in our comfy bed, with our layered blankets & pillows. And yet we do it. Makes me wonder what other uncomfortable transition in life is possible? Probably couldn’t be much worse than getting out of bed every damn day. - ml

At least I think that’s the case, most of the time. And not only men need to adjust accordingly, women do too, it’s time. -ml

Replace the word wave in this video with any other activity in life… and this is sage advice. Deeply wise words from Wave Ki by Brad Gerlach at Surf Splendor Podcast Network (Tiqui Surf Academy via Instagram.)
