This is very exciting. An excellent resource for landscape history. I mapped disappeared orchards using old aerial photos (+tithe maps) of Somerset - the orchard rows were still clearly visible from the ‘hawk’s eye view’ 🦅🍏

Delighted to see my ‘Letter to the Editor’ (with John Martin) published in response to a recent article in The Times and The Sunday Times about chicken welfare post Brexit. It builds on our previous work for History & Policy & is part of my ongoing @PoultryClubofGB Fellowship The Museum of English Rural Life.

Fellow environmental historians & humanists - our EH collective at Bristol has written some thoughts on the ‘provocative disclocation’ & productive possibilities of fieldwork. Do read and let us know what you think! 🙏🏼 #envhums #envhist

Bloody hell - the salaries 🤭🤩🥳 If I was a Masters student I know where I’d be applying... (plus you’d have the fab Finn Arne and @DollyJorgensen as supervisors so win-win) #envhist #envhums

What better preparation for a lecturer’s new academic year, than solo hiking 215 miles across the bottom of Scotland? The Southern Upland Way, Portpatrick to Cockburnspath, was spectacular. It has improved me irreversibly, as have all of my long-distance hikes #hikingadventures

I never tire of living by Hadrian’s Wall. I dreamt often of living on the doorstep of the hills and won’t live in a city again. I’m absolutely head over heels in love with Haltwhistle, the Tyne Valley and these stunning hills. I’m planning to hike the Cape Wrath Trail in 2022 🤠
